Project Overview
The Challenge
The only flat spot sat far from the kitchen, while the convenient corner sloped nearly a foot and held water after every rain. The owners wanted space for six to dine outside, plus shade that didn't mean a dark yard.
Our Approach
We cut the slope into a level terrace with a low seat wall that doubles as extra seating, laid large-format pavers on a compacted base, and added a sail shade on removable posts. Planting pockets around the edges soften every hard line.
The Result
Dinner outside from May to October, no puddles, and a terrace that looks designed rather than added on. Evening lighting on a timer finishes the scene.
