Project Overview
The Challenge
The backyard was a flat, shady rectangle: compacted soil, patchy grass, and no reason to go outside. The owners wanted to grow vegetables and cut lawn care, but didn't know where beds would get enough sun.
Our Approach
We mapped sun hours and placed three raised beds in the brightest strip, rebuilt the soil with compost, and ringed the yard with low-maintenance perennial borders. Drip lines went into every bed, and the remaining lawn shrank to a small play patch that's quick to mow.
The Result
First-season harvests from all three beds, watering cut to a timer, and mowing down to fifteen minutes. The owners joined a seasonal care plan for pruning and mulch refreshes.
- Three cedar raised beds with drip irrigation
- Perennial borders for year-round structure
- Lawn reduced to a small, easy play area
